ACCEL AT EVERGREEN VALLEY COLLEGE

Location: EVHS

Time Frame: School Year

The Accel program is housed at Evergreen Valley College and is a middle college program.  Students seeking a "head start" on college can finish their requirements for the last two years of High School while beginning to take college coursework.  The college coursework will transfer to a four-year college.   The application process takes place in the Spring and a parent/student orientation on EVC campus takes place prior to placement.  Look for information posted on School Loop late January.

INDEPENDENT STUDY PROGRAM

(ISP)

Location: Various ESUHSD Campuses

Time Frame: School Year

Independent study is intended for students who have are unable to attend school long-term for some reason.  Students must fill out an application with the Associate Principal of Attendance/Discipline (APA).  Often times there are more students that spots available.  In this case - the student is placed on a wait list until room is available.  Students must be successful in English 2 or take a placement test to validate their ability to work independently.  They meet with a teacher one hour weekly.

SMALL BUT NECESSARY SCHOOLS (SBN)

Location: Pegasus (IHS), Apollo (WCO), Phoenix (ST)

Time Frame: School Year

The district has set up three SBN schools for students that need a different setting to complete their educations.  These students are not actually part of the campuses but attend these small schools (approximately 100 students) where they can often get more personalized attention.  Referrals must be made through the APA's/attendance office.   Some students are able to catch up on credits and return to their home schools for graduation.

CALERO HIGH SCHOOL

Location: Calero High School, 420 Calero Ave

Time Frame: School Year

Calero's mission is to support students to recover credits, help them build success habits, and plan for a successful future. 
Calero provides multiple avenues for students to recover credits including Cyberhigh, Adult Education at nearby campuses, community college courses online and on site. Calero students have two things in common: they all have ability yet they are under-performing. The Advisory program is the place students begin to reflect on the habits/practices that are keeping them from being successful.

CONTINUATION HIGH SCHOOL

Location: Foothill High School, 230 Pala Ave.

Time Frame: School Year

Foothill’s campus was intended to be a small, flexible and supportive continuation site from the very beginning. It is an alternative setting for students experiencing difficulty in the traditional school.  Small class size of 20 students to each teacher and team teaching strategies, used regularly and  well, promote individualized attention. Student support includes a child development center that provides day care for any student enrolled in the Family Learning Center program.  Applications are available at the APA/Attendance office.
