Private Colleges & Universities

Private colleges offer many advantages over a public university. Among the benefits are that fewer students are enrolled allowing for a more personalized education and specialization.  But along with this comes a larger price tag. Tuition at private colleges can be as much as twice or three times the cost of a public institution, per year.

Many students are interested in a private college because of the enhanced status of the institution without considering if that campus will actually be the best fit for them or if the programs available will meet their goals.

It can be extremely difficult to gain admission to private schools and a student should select their potential private schools carefully by weighing their own student profile (grades, courses taken, rigor in their HS curriculum, test scores, activities, etc.) against those of students who have been admitted to the schools they are interested in.  Admission requirements vary so it is important to become familiar with the specific requirements are for the colleges the student is interested in.

Many colleges come to visit EVHS in the fall and students can sign up for these visits on the College Tab of Naviance.
